Komorebi

Handkerchiefs
Light dispels darkness, but shadow is born only in the presence of light.

Komorebi 木漏れ日 is Japanese for ‘sunlight streaming through tree leaves’. These handkerchiefs are printed with photograms of shadows cast by leaves on papers.

Recorded on March 16th, 2023 | 1:15 - 1:45 pm in Bangkok.

Under Bangkok’s summer sun, the fall of light and shadow on photographic papers served as a visual record of Komorebi. The images were first created through cyanotype printing on paper, then transferred onto fabric.
